Billy MacCartee is a proven leader in group benefits strategy and implementation—delivering high-performing, value-based, and cost-effective benefits solutions to employers of varying sizes and populations. He has spent the last 25 years building a successful track record as a producer of creative, non-traditional management strategies that achieve operational excellence through optimized plan design and innovation.
Billy began his health insurance career with Mid Atlantic Medical Services, Inc. where his entrepreneurial spirit and early success led him to start his own company, MacCartee Medical Management, Inc..
In 2019, Billy co-founded benecurv to expand the deliverables in the ever changing employee benefits space. Today, Billy is committed to expanding benecurv’s industry footprint through forward-thinking service innovation, sales and marketing excellence, and by optimizing the overall customer experience.
Over the course of his career, Billy also spent time on the Standing Advisory Board (SAB) for the D.C. Health Benefit Exchange Authority and was instrumental in the development of the D.C. Link. He has served on the CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield broker board, the financial advisory board for Playing for Peace, and he is a former fellow of the Christian Children’s Fund.
Billy is a frequent speaker and subject matter expert at industry events, sharing his entrepreneurial passion and deep understanding of the group benefits marketplace with a variety of audiences in both the MD, DC and VA areas, as well as, the NC, SC and GA regions. He is an investor and advocate of smart technology intended to improve the delivery and management of employer benefits—including BenefitsApp.com, the first mobile benefits platform on Salesforce.com. Billy has been featured in various publications and on television for his extensive knowledge of employer benefit design and strategy.
Billy is a fourth-generation Washingtonian on both sides of his family and comes from a long line of entrepreneurs. He is an alumnus of Mater Dei Elementary in Bethesda, MD and Gonzaga College High School in Washington, D.C. He received his B.A. undergraduate degree from Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, PA, and his Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in International Economics from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD.
A former membership committee member at the Columbia Country Club in MD, Billy is an avid golfer who splits his time between Bethesda, MD and Charleston, SC. He and his wife Elena have two boys, Shane and Stephen, and two dogs, George and Dash.
